A story about a young man who one day or rather one morning as the sun had not yet come up, woke up from a sound sleep with a thought in his mind that he should go on a quest but the thought was an incomplete one which had formed only half-way while he slept, being left unfinished upon his awaking and therefore leaving him with but a partial idea of what he should be doing which was, as the beginning of this title stated, go questing, only since the idea had not burst forth from his dreaming subconscious fully-formed, since this particular dream, or idea, or notion, or other word naming the types of inspirations one may feel upon awaking if one's mind has been engaged not in dreaming, but in plotting (albeit in this case the young man's mind was engaged in the laziest sort of plotting, springing forth only semi-thoughts such as the aforementioned compulsion to 'go on a quest') had been sent out on its own mission – its own quest, if you will, this idea's mission being to send the young man on a mission – the idea itself was as yet incomplete leaving the young man's understanding of the idea incomplete, also, and so in this story the young man will lay there simply pondering what he is to be questing for, although honestly that too would itself be something of a quest, if only an intellectual, rather than a physical one.

The end.

In 250=1, I write stories that are exactly 250 words long, including the title.  Click here for an index to all of them.

The idea behind this story came from author P.T. Dilloway, who suggested I write a story that was a 250 word long title.  You can read more of his overly-grumpy but very clever musings on his blog here, and buy his books, including the amazing "Scarlet Knight" series of superhero novels, here.

And I bet he couldn't remember all of that once he was all the way awake.
